We are 2 couples travelling from India and planning our first trip to Italy. We will be self-driving from Rome to Venice during the trip and are planning to stop in Florence for 3 days. We would like to base ourselves somewhere outside the main city having read the horrors of self-driving in to Florence. From our base, we would spend a day to drive to Pisa, a day to visit Florence (via public transport) and half a day to get a taste of Tuscany life. We are hoping to find some hotel / b&b suggestions which would make it easy to accomplish the above. A rented villa / appt. will also do. Our main consideration would be - easy parking for our vehicle & easy accessibility via public transport for getting in to Florence. Look forward to you help / suggestions. We would love any suggestions to help us plan out our visit.
