Accomodation in Orvieto Italy

Hello,
In September, we are two women travelling from Siena to Orvieto by train and would like suggestions on where to stay in Orvieto, we like to have twin beds but on researching the different hotels it looks like most of the rooms are double beds. We would like to stay in the Centre of the town.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Our family of three enjoyed our stay in a triple room at Hotel Valentino: http://www.valentinohotel.com/en/ Our air conditioned, ensuite, soundproof room was very comfortable. Great buffet breakfast with hand-made espresso drinks. Enjoy.

I suggest that you stay at the very popular CasaSelita B&B. It's just below the center city, but there is an elevator that takes you up to the city. They have numerous rooms where the beds can be split into two single beds.

I've been reading about them online for years, and they get consistently good recommendations.

glenda,

You might have a look at Hotel Corso as it's very comfortable and in a great location between the station and the Duomo. Regarding the beds, many hotels "make" a double bed by pushing two twin beds together, so they may be able to provide you with two beds. Contact them for further information.

If you check booking.com, in the reservations area it asks for bed preference. If the hotel has twin or single beds, it will be noted there. This could make your preliminary research easier.

I think one of the previous posts refers to an elevator, I only know of the funivia from the train station up to the city, then a minibus (same ticket is valid) to the Duomo or some other locations (2 bus lines).

And the funivia only runs until 8.30 p.m., so you'd have to find other means of getting back down after dinner. I stayed in the center and it was very convenient.

We have stayed twice at Hotel Duomo, they are listed on Bookings.com if you want to take a peek. I do not know about the twin beds, but they are a lovely family that runs it. Very clean and great breakfast. The hotel has an elevator. They are right in the town center across from the Duomo. It is such a great town to stay in because when all the tourists go home you have the town to yourself in the evening.

My friend and I stayed at the Istituto San Salvatore. It is a convent very conveniently located in town. Also super clean and quiet. All beds are twins. The sisters speak limited English but it all works out. They also have a very nice patio with a lovely view.

Just stayed at Rick's recommended Grand Hotel Italia and loved it. Took an upgraded double room and it was huge. The bathroom was larger than our room in Paris and the second Balcony (we had two) was great for eating pizza and looking at the broken clock. Right in the center of town but quiet at night. The market on Saturday was next door to the hotel and one of the best we have visited. Wished we had spent several nights in Orvieto.

Another option is to check out apartment rentals --- I am living in Orvieto in the most gorgeous apartment which I found by researching on FlipKey. I also looked at HomeAway and VRBO, but the FlipKey ( part of TripAdvisor) property was the knockout.

If the heat wave persists, you'll want to be sure to have air conditioning. You may want it anyway just for the white noise as the city centre can be a bit noisy, especially when there are events going on. Last night was a big 50's event in the square where the Thursday/Saturday market is held. I enjoyed the music from the balcony but was happy I could close the doors and turn on the a/c when I was ready to call it a night and the party was still in full swing.

Orvieto is beautiful. And yes, there is an elevator from the parking area to the city centre, or the funicular takes you to the train station. There are day tours available to get out into the countryside, which is spectacular.

You'll enjoy this beautiful spot of paradise!

I've stayed at Casavera B&B / apartments several times. Two thumbs up! The hosts are lovely and the location couldn't be better.

Hotel Virgilio on Piazza del Duomo, excellent location, some rooms have partial views of the Cathedral.
