Accomodation in Cinque Terre for 2 families

Hi! We are travelling to the Cinque Terre in August. We have 2 families (2 adults and 2 children each). Does anyone have suggestions for accomodations that can fit our large group? Also, any advice for getting from the Pisa airport to Cinque Terre?

Many Thanks!!

Try contacting Mar Mar in Riomaggiore as they have places that are available for up to six people. Mar Mar is a rental agency that rents out private apartments in Riomaggiore.

Go to their website, go to the "Contact Us" and fill out an "Accommodation Request". They will email you back with what is available along with detailed descriptions, including how many steps to get to each place. I had a very good experience with them and recommend them highly.

You can take a train from Pisa Airport to Pisa Centrale. About 5 min / 2 per hour

From there you head west on any number of trains most going through La Spezia. Lots of choices here.

Most likely you will transfer to take a local train from La Spezia to the CT. Those run about 1-2 / hr as well.

We did this last September. Mike above is correct about the trains.

You can purchase your train ticket in the lobby of the airport. You then walk to the other end of the terminal, where you will see the platform for the train for the five minute or so ride to Pisa Centrale. At Pisa Centrale, we boarded the train to La Spezia Centrale, where we transferred to our train to Monterosso.

I don't know if you have been there before but I'll add a couple of points: First, make sure that you validate your ticket at the yellow box on the platform at Pisa Airport. Second, pack light! You will change trains, the platforms are not elevated like on the subway in New York, and don't even think about there being any elevators, especially in the Cinque Terra stations; also, don't expect your fellow passengers to refrain from trying to board or get off while you are getting your bags aboard or off the train. It's actually not as big a hassle as the above might imply, and the countryside is lovely.

One final aside: outside the terminal at Pisa airport is a giant statue of a pigeon. Your NYC kids might get a kick out of that.

Hi! Thank you for all the advice! We booked 2 apartments through acasa5terre and they have been very helpful.

The information on the train is great! We look forward to seeing the giant pigeon :)
