Accomodation in Catanial, Ortigia/Siracusa, Panzano and Bologna?

Hi folks - we're planning our 25th wedding anniversary trip to Italy in the last half of September and these are all cities we want to stay in. Any suggestions on places to stay would be appreciated.

We want to be able to walk to places in the city as we won't have a car. We want something relatively quiet, and good internet access is mandatory as we'll be working while travelling. We need a shower of course, with a bathtub as well if possible, and I wouldn't normally specify this but after reading a few surprising reviews of different places, I feel have to mention we need a private bathroom with direct access from our room (not down the hall). We have a strong preference for a king size bed but a queen size could work, or perhaps even a large double bed. We don't need a kitchen but a coffee maker is always welcome!

A smaller, more boutique independent hotel or apartment would be a good fit for us, as we're not fond of large chains when we're travelling for pleasure. We like fashion, architecture and history so we'd like a place with style, and we appreciate the offbeat. An on-site restaurant is optional. We're likely to ask for help with tours, etc. as well.

Thanks in advance for your help - R.

We loved staying in Ortigia, Panzano and Bologna. We rented a villa in Panzano for our extended family and an apartment in Ortigia for the two of us.. In Bologna we stayed at the Art Hotel Novecento.
We loved all three places. For Panzano, Chianti and More was very helpful finding the perfect place for us to stay.

My tour group stayed at Domus Mariae, Via Vittorio Veneto 89 in Ortigia and I have stayed twice at the Liberty Hotel, Via San Vito, 40 in Catania. Domus has a wonderful roof top terrace. Liberty was quite special. Both hotels are in excellent locations to explore the areas on foot.
