My wife and I will be spending three nights in Vernazza in September and we are looking for recommendations of rooms and B&B's. One place we've read great recommendations about is Antonio e Ingrid Fenelli Camere. However, I have tried to call Antonio e Ingrid many times using the following number 011 39 0187 812 183. The phone just rings and no one answers. Am I dialing incorrectly, have the wrong number or have they changed their number? Are they still in business? Please advise. This is our first choice, but we are open to other recommendations. Please share your best experiences in Vernazza. Thank you. - Rick
Rick, For a list of accommodations in Vernazza, have a look at this website: http://savevernazza.com/visiting-vernazza/ Unfortunately, the above list indicates that the Affitacamere Ingrid e Antonio will not reopen, so you'll have to make another choice. September can be VERY busy in that area (it certainly was last September), so it would be a really good idea to get accommodations booked SOON! If you can't find anything in Vernazza, I'd suggest trying Monterosso or one of the other towns. Good luck and happy travels!
We stayed at Gianni Franzi right on the main square and were happy with the choice- quite a hike up the stairs but made for a good workout! Would stay there again.
On our last visit to Vernazza in mid-July 2009 we stayed 4 nights in several of Francamaria's rooms which were very nice. www.francamaria.com Rooms 1 and 2 are just a few steps up from the square and have great views of the square. Loved staying here! The church bells will wake you every morning but who wants to sleep when you are in Italy! In July 2006 we were here 4 nights and had a very "lived" in apt. from Nicolina. www.camerenicolina.it It was above the pharmacy and overlooked the town's main drag. My boys described it as very "funky." Very tiny bathroom that they and my husband had to bend their head down to get through the door. It was fun being on main drag as their was a wedding and the bride and groom were on a balcony right across from our apt. throwing candy to people below. I don't think I would stay here again if something else was available though. Our first time here in 2002 we daytripped in and knew we had to come back and stay awhile! Taking the boat to Portovenere was very fun! Buon Viaggio!
Rick, I stayed at Gianni Franzi as well, and loved it! I would definitely stay there again.
I booked with Cristian at La Marina Rooms from Rick's book.
I stayed at Memo Rooms few years ago and it was very nice.
Just returned from Vernazza- stayed at roomartina.it -the english version of the site does not seem to be working- but I booked everything thru email and reading about the rooms on TripAdvisor.com Stayed in Room #3 which has its own private rooftop patio-with full table and plastic chairs and the most incredible view of the harbor and the sound of the ocean! There is no coffee maker or hot pot in the room which was kind of a drag since you do climb 17 sets of steps to reach your room. the bathroom has a great shower and everything else worked great !!
I would stay there again- but if I went back i would donate a hot pot-teapot-coffee maker because going up and down those stairs is not a quick task.. ENJOY your travels!!
