My daughter and I are traveling from Pompeii to Florence and stopping in Orvieto. Any suggestions for accommodations there? Thinking we'd like to stay in the countryside if it's an easy bus/taxi ride from the train station. Misia Country Resort looks wonderful but not sure about getting there from the train station. Thank you!
Sallie,
I don't have any information on Misla Country Resort, but hopefully one of the others can provide details on that. While you could certainly stay outside of town, you might find that being in town offers more dining choices and activities in the evenings. I stayed at Hotel Corso in Orvieto and would certainly recommend it.
Thank you! I'll check out this hotel. Sallie
Another vote for Hotel Corso. I stayed there for 2 weeks last June. Comfortable and reasonably priced. It's one of the closest hotels to the funicular, but that makes it a bit farther from the core of the city. I never actually timed the walk; maybe 10 minutes? But the architecture is interesting the whole way.
We liked B&B Ripa Medici. It is the opposite end of town from the funicular and overlooks the beautiful countryside.
I prefer staying in town. I have stayed at Hotel Virgilio and Hotel Duomo, both were very good.
Several years ago we spent 3 nights in the Hotel Corso. The property was very nice, the staff was good, and the location was a plus. One observation: Orvieto rolls up the sidewalks at 9pm and the streets are empty. The town is very quiet and peaceful; that was our experience.
Buon viaggio,
Thank you all! I can tell I'm late...some of these are already booked up!
