Accommodations in Capri

I wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations for places they enjoyed staying at in Capri. I've done a fair bit of research on my own using Trip Advisor and the local Capri website (as Rick doesn't list any places in his guide book) and have been a little frustrated trying to find the right place. I am going with my wife in May and have a pretty reasonable budget (I know Capri is expensive, so wanted to stay under 300 Euro per night). Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Sorry, should have said we are staying in Sorrento as well. I know that probably seems like a lot of time down there, but I have been to Italy a few times and have never been south of Rome, so we really wanted to spend time in each. Thanks.

It really doesn't make much sense to stay in Sorrento, then pack up and move to Positano, and then on to Capri. It is best to stay in one place and take on the others as day trips. They are all very close to one another, and it really is a waste of time to have to pack up and move to another location, unpack, and then do it all over again. You will get more efficient use of your time there if you establish a base of operations and then take day trips to the other locations. These places are all easily seen within a day's time. You will find a larger and somewhat less expensive selection of accommodations in Sorrento as opposed to Positano or Capri.

Evan - The previous posters are spot on as far as suggesting making Sorrento a base of operations and going on day trips to Positano as well as Capri. But, if Capri is where you want to spend a couple of days then I would suggest

Take a look at their website - I have stayed there - It is Fabulous and fits your budget. And I would take exception to one of the poster's who thinks Capri is not the place to stay. Touristy _ Yes - So what - There's a reason - It's an amazing place!! And, as you mentioned you guys are going in May which is a Perfect time to go - less crowded and very pleasant. As far as looking for the rich and famous - Hey - That's fun too!

Either way enjoy your time, Greg

You never know the worth of a place until you have visited overnight..we found Capri to be a wonderful place to spend three days. Hotel La Tosca is #1 on TripAdvisor for a reason - VERY reasonable, great location, personable hosts, clean and crisp rooms. We found excellent restaurants (from the hotel's recommendatons) and found lots to do, both during the day and in the evening.
