Accommodations for 10 in Rome

My husband and I are traveling to Italy in June of 2017 with four other couples. We primarily want to experience Tuscany and have already booked a seven night stay in apartments at an agriturismo. We plan to fly into Rome from the U.S. and stay there two nights before renting cars for the drive into Tuscany. After our week at the agriturismo, we will drive to Florence, return the rental cars, spend one full day and one overnight there, then fly home from Florence. (Although it appears we might save significantly on airfare if we return to Rome by train after Florence, and fly home from Rome.) I found a nice B&B in Florence that can accommodate all of us. Can anyone recommend an alternative to renting five hotel rooms in Rome? A B&B or appartment where we can all stay together? In a location that is within walking distance of the must-see things in Rome? .

I am not a fan of AirBnb for reasons I will not go into, but I rent frequently here in Italy and all over Europe and the U.S. from VRBO.com. You should be able to find larger apartments and homes, although 5 bedrooms will be a tough one. Hang onto the B&B and do a quick search to see if there are options. You'll probably be dominating the B&B and often there is a lounge where you can hang out together.

EDIT: Sorry I just realized you do not have the B&B in Rome yet, only in Florence. Still, finding a B&B where you can all stay together is not a bad thing. Those large apartments (5 bedrooms) are a tough search anywhere but do try VRBO. In the search, you can easily specify how many bedrooms you need.

You might also look at Booking.com for multiple rooms at the same B&B.

To be within walking distance of the "must see things" depends on what you must see. Staying in Prati puts you near the Vatican and you can easily connect to the Piazza Navona area by foot in 15-20 minutes depending on exactly where you stay, and also to the entire city by bus, Metro, and tram.

If alternatively you stay in the Piazza Navona/Pantheon/Campo dei Fiori area, you do not have access to the Metro but buses are good and you can walk 25-30 minutes one direction to the Colosseo and 20-30 the other direction to the Vatican.
