Accommodation in Ortisei

Hello there,

My husband and I are traveling to Ortisei for 3 days for the first time in August if everything will be fine with the covid-situation. Since there is not so much accommodation choices for a 3-day stay, hopefully I'll be able to get some hotel suggestions from the forum community! I'm looking for a nice hotel with a view, and our budget is approximately 100-130 EUR per night.
Also, what is the weather in Dolomites in mid-August?

August is high season so most hotels will cost more than your budget, especially with a view. Many in the area are half pension as well, so upwards of €200-300 for a couple. You might try Hotel Garni Walther, just up a hill from Piazza Sant’Antonio. Also consider the villages of Santa Cristina and Selva.

Many people go every year at the same time in July and August for long stays and rent the same lodging annually so you really have to search. This year might be different and since you are from Finland travel for you is more likely than for us in North America.

It is pleasant in August up in the valley, but miserably hot in Bolzano. While it can hit 35C or so, it is rare and nights are always lovely. Plan for afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Get out on the trail early for the best weather.

I can vouch for how hot it can be down in Bolzano and Bressanone in the summer. You definitely want to stay up at altitude if you possibly can. Note that a lot of the budget-level lodgings way down in the valley are not air conditioned, which can make for really unpleasant conditions.

You can find actual, day-by-day historical weather statistics on the website timeanddate.com. I like to look at the data for at least the three most recent years; five would be better. I don't find monthly averages particularly useful. I've linked to the stats for Ortisei. I see that for August 2019 there were often high daily temperature peaks, but they were very brief, and the temperature was moderate for most of the day.

We stayed at Hotel Garni Fortuna a few years ago and loved it! It’s well within your price and includes breakfast. https://www.hotel-fortuna.it/en/prices_summer.asp
They are just a two minute walk to the town and gondola that takes you up to Alpe di Siusi for the most amazing hiking! We got the largest room with Mountain View’s and it was really gorgeous.

One of our favorite hotel stays ever was at family owned and managed Hotel Grones in Ortisei. Views, parking, walkable to town and lifts up into mountains. Our rate included breakfast and wonderful dinners. Highly recommend it but your stated budget is low.

We stayed at Garni Flurida a B&B a short walk from the center last September. It was inexpensive and a great place to stay. Free parking if you have a car.

While I enjoy Ortisei very much I prefer the smaller towns nearby such as Santa Christina or Castelrotto, which are each less than a half hour away by local bus (and local hotels give you free bus passes for your stay). Hotel zum Wolfe in Castelrotto was excellent this past January (I got out just before things got upset). Villa Martha in Santa Cristina was also excellent in January. When I want to check possible prices and availability I go to Booking.com and once you have picked a hotel that seems nice on their map you can click on "map view" and it will show the prices of all of the other hotels in that area.

Mountain weather is changeable even within a day. Bring puffy jackets or vests for the high country and rain jackets.

Thank you so much guys for helping me! Last year in August Venice was hot as hell, that's true. We've booked Garni Halali for 324 euro for 3 days, breakfast incl. They have 9.2 on Booking, so it seems like a good deal. After Ortisei, we are planing 3 days in Trento and surroundings and Lake Garda for a week.
