Access America Travel Insurance???

Anyone have any experience/comments on AA travel insurance. RS reminds that insurance might need to be contracted within 2 weeks of booking trip, but AA seems to be available right up to the trip. Are there better alternatives?

Insuremytrip.com is good place to compare policies and coverages. AND read the fine carefully since no two policies are exactly a like.

My last trip I had to seek medical attention and Access America promptly paid my claim (I paid and they reimbursed me). I bought this policy through insuremytrip.com. Be sure your insurance covers more than your flight. More importantly IMO is the medical coverage.

Jerry, my wife and I have used Access America thru AAA for our last 4 trips to Italy. We have filed claims on 3 of those trips ranging from need to purchase clothing and personal products due to delayed luggage, flight delays, and also dental expenses due to broken tooth. All 3 claims were honored and reimbursements quickly paid. Remember to save ALL receipts.
We have purchased a family policy for our next trip in April that includes our 17 yr old granddaughter. The cost is very reasonable and the peace of mind is very comforting.

The rule of thumb about when to buy travel insurance: buy within two weeks if you want pre-existing conditions covered. In other words, you must cancel a trip 3 days out because a pre-exisiting health condition causes you to require hospitalization. If you do not have such a condition
(and if no one in your family who might cause you to cancel does), then you can buy anytime up until 2 or 3 weeks out. American Access and all the other major companies sell both within 2 weeks policies and policies you buy later.

From my PERSONAL experience, you can't do better than Access America. I've researched the 'biggies', and they were, and are, the best for me. My family had a claim paid promptly - no hassles. I'll never travel without it.
