Is there a best site to buy these advance tickets? Or are the service charges all the same?
Eric, I haven't bought Accademia or Uffizi tickes on the internet, so don't have any comments on that. As I recall, there's good information in the Guidebook on that. The method I use is to simply ask the staff at the Hotel to book the reservations. Last time I was in Florence, the Hotel owner made one phone call and it was all arranged in about two minutes. Happy travels!
Thanks Ken .... my only issue is that I get into Florence from Rome on Friday AM, and because of my itinerary, I think we need to try and go to these places on the day we arrive in Florence, so getting the tickets in advance is probably necessary for that. I saw a site online which had a 20E service charge for a combo ticket & wasnt sure if that was the official place to get advance tickets or just a 3rd party site.
We were in Florence last month. A few months before our trip, I purchased eight Accademia tickets for our traveling group using the web site referred to in Rick's book. They charged a 4 Euro per person fee. The web site and the tickets worked great.
I bought tickets on the site mentioned in the books. For some reason I had problems with the website from home, but was able to purchase while at work. The times were only from 12-5, but that worked out OK.
http://www.b-ticket.com/b-ticket/uffizi/default.aspx I think this is the official site. This is where I got them. Was just there last week. Rick
have your hotel make the reservations for you. it's the easiest way
just tell them what date you want to go and time frame you want, the good hotels will do this for you
