I have read that you can go to the Accademia in the afternoons some times and not have much of a line. I was in Florence in Feb. 2009 and walked right in the Uffizi in the afternoon- but it was a weekday. Was thinking of going on a Saturday but don't have any firm plans...I thought about getting to Florence in the morning and checking out the line then maybe go to the Science Museum and/or the Bargello and could go back to the Accademia. thanks for the info.

Why don't you just get a reservation, it is not hard. Ask your hotel to do it.

Just call, a two minute phone call not expensive to do these days and you have it all set up no problems no commissions. I have mine set up for the Uffizi and Accademia one in the morning the other that afternoon.
