Has anyone heard of this website for buying tickets to the Accademia Gallery in Florence? http://en.firenze.waf.it/
I made the mistake of buying tickets through them before coming to Rick Steves website. The extra fee doesn't bother me. Are they legit?
I assume that it's legitimate, but more expensive than you have to pay to get advance reservations.

Leslie - do you know if the 4 euro fee is per order or per ticket? Also, does anyone know if it is necessary to make an advance reservation for the Accademia in mid-May (3 people)?
The 4 Euro fee is per ticket. From my understanding, it is highly recommended to get reservations for May.
Nearly all hotels in Florence will make reservations for you at the Uffizi and Accademia. You just e-mail the hotel you are staying at with the date and time you prefer and they will try and get the closest time you requested. A lot of hotels will not charge for this service.
True, but even if you have your hotel do it, you still pay the reservation fee to the Accademia when you pick up your tickets.
I think that having your hotel do it for you primarily pre-dates the ability to get the tickets on-line. Since you can now get them yourselves, to me, it just seems easier to do so.

Both you and my wife just confirmed the misinformation I passed on about the reservation cost being free for the Accademia if booked through a hotel. Thanks for clarifying that. Here I thought I was getting a great deal.
