Sigh. Sold out for all my May dates. Please advise ...wait in line day of? If so, can I get them for later in the day if I arrive early? And can I get the three I need if I am the only one there? (Or two of us - third is a teenager, who will likely still be asleep depending on how early I should arrive). TIA

Did you try Viator? Get your guide? I know, they're not popular on the board and you will pay more, but my experience with both recently was fine.
We did the Accademia Easter week. We had 9:15 priority tickets, we walked right in, but the line was about an NYC block long. I imagine the people on it waited about an hour, but not 2? Just a guess. Friends had tickets at noon same day and they waited over an hour even with skip the line. It was very backed up. Early is likely key.
While you're there go to Medici Chapel and Palazzo Medici - very close by and not crowded.
