I wanted to report back that Sunday February 26 we visited Galleria Academia with no reservations. We got in line about 9:15 and only had to wait about 20 minutes. There were about 25 people ahead of us. when we came out about 2 hours later, the line wrapped around the corner. I’m glad we did not make a reservation for today as planned. Sunday we had intended to visit Boboli Gardens, but it was pouring rain and windy, so perfect for a museum visit. Today it is cold but sunny, so good for being outside. It’s been very windy and cold in Florence. Lots of tourists bundled up like winter. I bought a knit hat from a street vendor!
Thank you for that update, good to know. We'll be there in 2 weeks, still debating on which ticket/pass to purchase, where to make reservations. Are you using any type of pass or just buying tickets as you go?
We bought the pass for Uffizi, Pitti palace and Boboli Gardens that is good for 5 days. We had a reserved time slot for the Uffizi, which I highly recommend. The other museums we are buying as we go along and have had no problems
