I have purchased a new 2012 book and was very disappointed that there was no information on this area. I am making a trip and have always used Rick Steve's suggestion. Where would I find information?

The Touring Club of Italy publishes a guide book for The Marche, which I got from Amazon. They might do one for Abruzzi as well.
