I am trying to find a tour which include a walking tour of Venice, and a Gondola Tour. I have found a few, but many of them split the two and have on in the morning and one in the afternoon. This doesn't work for my schedule and would like to do them together in the afternoon. The other tours I have like this only go down the grand canal. I would like to go through some of the side canals as well. Does anyone know of anything like this? And as always, hopefully not costing too much?

I am scheduled to do an OffBeat Venice walk with Alessandro who Rick mentioned in his book. He also does a cicchetto bar crawl. The Off Beat Walk is only 15 euros and begins at 4PM. The cicchetto bar crawl runs after that.

Gondolas are a set price for up to 6 people. If you book one in advance you could end up with strangers and not where you want to be. I understand at the major tourist areas such as San Marco, Rialto etc there can be a wait but if you get away from these areas you can find your own gondola for 80 euros for 40 minutes, more in the evening or if you want singing. http://www.gondolavenezia.it

Venice is pretty easy to self-guide on a walking tour. Rick Steves has some in his Venice book (San Marco to Rialto, Rialto to Frari Church), and I found a wonderful book to guide us on our next trip, "24 Great Walks in Venice." You can take Rick's two walks back-to-back in about 2 hours, plus a little time to see the Frari Church. You might still squeeze in the gondola ride in a half day devoted to this itinerary. I have looked at guided walking tours there, but the price was just off-putting. We'd rather discover on our own, I guess. Happy planning!

Thanks, I'll keep these in mind if I can't find what I'm looking for. But I'm travelling with my mother and she really wants to do a guided tour. Pub crawl is not really her style, and we don't mind sharing a gondola with other people.
