We are planning a honeymoon, early next November for 12 days. I would really like to go to Florence, but I also thought it would be nice to travel to the coast. Would it be logical to do both in the same trip? If not, where would be a great honeymoon destination along the Italian Riveria? Thanks for your help.
Florence and the CT are not far apart. You could easily spend time in both...... I would also recommend at least a couple of nights in Lucca, in between the two areas...... November is not the best time for the Italian Riviera, but is probably ok...... Lucca is more "romantic" in my estimation. It's great for walking and bicycling..... Florence, of course, has all that cultural stuff..... I don't have an opinion about romantic comparisons in the riviera. All the towns are nice, with some differences..... Corniglia is the most isolated of the 5 towns. Vernazza seems to capture the imagination of the majority....... I prefer Monterosso, but not for romantic reasons. It's more level than the others and has a nice, long seafront promenade.
steph, you could easily visit both places in a time frame of 12-days, however that will depend on what other places you also want to visit? It would help if you could provide a bit more information. For example, are you using open-jaw flights, where are you starting the trip, is this your first trip to Europe, etc. ¶ Regarding a "great honeymoon destination", I made a few suggestions in your other thread. Cheers!
You might consider allittle further south to Amalfi coast. It oozes honeymoon. If you can afford it stay in Positano or a hotel overlooking the Med. Sea in Sorrento. CT is very nice but my vote is amalfi coast.
I would skip Cinque Terre in early November and instead spend time in Sorrento, which can still be quite nice that time of year.
Ditto Sorrento! Rome and Sorrento would be fun that time of year, and you have a better chance of finding good weather down South. November is the wettest month, but there is not that much rain in the Sorrento anyhow. You could also look at Southern Spain or Portugal. I think that things would be much drier there during November. In Portugal we were wading in the ocean during Dec one year. It was awesome!
