A trip advice for a family

I'm travelling to Rome in mid June, will have a business trip for 3 days, in each day will be free from 3-4 pm, then I have 4 days and nights for tourism, I am travelling with wife and my two sons (4, 7) years, I think 3 days will be enough for Rome, your recommendation for the 4 days

Thanks

Pretty easy - Venice or Florence. You could try and squeeze both into 4 days but that's tight. I'd pick Venice and slow down a bit.

Where do you fly out of? I’m not sure about Venice for kids 4 & 7 especially with the summer crowds. How about some place like Sorrento with the boat ride across to Capri. The kids might enjoy Pompeii if it’s not too warm in June or one of the beaches.

hey hey dr.mostafasanad
where are you flying in from and what airport you flying out of? you are coming in on high season with millions expected for jubilee 2025 (holy patronage at the vatican/st peters, people from all over the world). it will be so so crowded, HOT HOT HOT.
do you have accomodations for all of you, where are you staying at in rome, what does "free from 3-4pm" mean? not much time to sneeze, jet lag if traveling far, restaurants will be packed with long lines & waits, roam down an alleyway away from crowds to mom & pop place, have no clue about how you sons would do, may now and be grumpy or may do terrific, many say "their kids" travel well and put into this situation.
what will your wife and kids do while you are at business meetings, how much of rome will you be able to see & enjoy after meetings?
look at best coastal towns near rome, which also may have some crowds but the boys will enjoy.
you need to be near airport the night before flying out and how early flight departs will need at least 3 hours checking in, passport/immigration times to get through
list what you hope to see and times needed to just get around. some tickets sold out already and other are time stamped.

Thanks for the advice

Still didn't reserve the accommodation, will come through Roma Fiumicino airport, I will finish about 3 pm, and 1 hour after can start touristic program, my family will stay at hotel till I come, yes I think they will be grumpy in long lines, I can depart either from Rome or Milan if I am visiting and staying the other 4 days near Milan

hey hey dr.
before booking flights, get you accomodations done. many have reserve from last year and looking for 4 people is a needle in a haystack now. when reserving you have to account for all 4 of you, no matter if they share a bed with you. some places allow only 2 or 3, read fine print, cancellation policies, amenities (A/C definitely in summer, stairs/steps to climb what floor, elevator/lift)
milan is another busy place, with many flights flying in and out. people use it to get to the lakes another busy area. don't know your budget in euros, look at booking.com or trivago.com what is available at this late date. see something book it ASAP or email hotel if any rooms. look at transportation how you will get around, train, trams, taxis. lots to think about, pack light and can your boys carry their own bags good luck happy hunting
