A question about a small train

Years ago, maybe 10-15, Rick published a memoir/bio about some of his favorite places in Europe. I can't find the book, and can't recall the title, though I used to own it.

I've got an odd question. Maybe someone who read the book or visited the town would know the answer. In Italy, he mentions visiting a small town that has a small-gauge railway that (I believe) carries grapes from the fields uphill.

Does anyone know where that is, and if the train still exists?

Thanks very much!

Wasn't that a scene in one of his older TV shows about Vernazza and the CT?

Agree, it was definitely a Cinque Terre episode and I think it was filmed near Vernazza. The "train" only transported grapes and maybe tools, but wasn't designed for passengers.

Thank you!

This is so funny...I haven’t watched a RS ‘live’ for awhile but just happened to flip past pbs tonight and guess which episode is on...complete with the ‘grape train’

Ken, that is SO cool! I want to ride on that.

Somehow, I had always pictured these trains as sort of like the kind you find in an amusement park, for children! With a mini locomotive, etc.
