A morning in Pisa.

Besides the Tower of Pisa, what wd you suggest. We like off the path, behind the scenes. Staying in Hotel Grand Duomo then train to Florence. Older folks, 72 and 80.

The Piazza dei Miracoli (Miracles' Square) as Piazza del Duomo is also known as, has not only the leaning tower, but also the Duomo (Cathedral) and Baptistery that are worth visiting. There is also the Campo Santo (Cemetery) next to the cathedral, which is worth a quick visit.

It won't take you long to see all of the above, and many people also pair the visit at Pisa with a visit of nearby Lucca (about 20 min by train from the Pisa San Rossore station, near the leaning tower). Actually, since Lucca has more to offer, in my opinion, many start the visit with Lucca, then move on to Pisa in the afternoon, to return to Florence in the late evening.

Lucca can be reached directly from Florence on a separate rail line, you don't need to change trains in Pisa if you want to go to (or return from) directly from Lucca.
