A few days in Ischia, Italy?

I am going to be going on the Southern Italy tour the end of September and thought I would spend a few days on Ischia before flying back. The tour already hits Sorrento, Capri, the Amalfi coast area, Pompei and so I thought I would try Ischia. I was looking for a nice hotel with a wonderful view and possibly a spa area and beach. Does anyone have any suggestions? I found questions asked about Ischia, but many were years old.

Or should I spend a few days elsewhere near Naples where I will be flying back to the States?

Thanks.

As a child, I lived in Naples. Ischia was our "go to" island, with much more to do than on Capri, which even then was for the wealthy. Lots of beautiful beaches. I am planning a trip for next year, and the guide that seems full of information is the Lonely Planet Guide to Naples, Pompeii, and the Amalfi Coast. Lots of info. You might check when the next edition is due out.

You can purchase an electronic copy of just the pertinent chapter of that Lonely Planet guide for a few dollars - or research Ischia in guidebooks found in your local library. My Cadogan guide to the Bay of Naples and Southern Italy (published 2007; I don't know if there's a newer version) has part of a chapter on Ischia. It includes info on several hotels.

I love Procida! It is not highly touristy and is gorgeous. It was the highlight of my last southern Italy trip. You get there via boat from Naples. You could also do a day-trip to Ischia from there (or vise versa.)
