A day and a half, how to spend starting in Sorrento.

Hi,
My husband and I are on a cruise (late April) and dock in Sorrento. We are there from 1pm and leave the following day at 5pm. I am wondering what is the best use of our time.

I've been to Capri (my husband has not and I really want him to see it.) But, also wondering should we do Capri (for the half day when we dock) and then go to Naples the next day for a few hours(it's an hour train ride from Sorrento). I've read Naples is crowded and very busy (maybe not so much in late April) or should we skip Naples and instead go to Positano (a 30 min ferry ride from Sorrento) and spend our next day there.

Not interested in Pompei, so ruling out that route.

Really do want Capri but torn between choosing to spend our next day (most of it) in Positano or Naples? Thanks in advance for your advice/suggestions!!!

Easter is April 20, 2025. The week before and the week after will be extra crowded in an already packed region. April is no longer shoulder season, so expect crowds in Sorrento and the AC.
Because the infrastructure in the area has been so sadly neglected, transportation by any mode takes time and patience. Congestion is everywhere. Ferries are weather dependent. Positano has a small dock and can only accept smaller ferries, which are even more affected by bad weather. The gritty train between Naples and Sorrento kind of runs on schedule, and it's often SRO, and no air conditioning.
I would highly recommend taking ship excursions only on your second day. If the congestion results in a late return to the ship, then they will hold the ship for you, But if you venture out on your own........
Have a great adventure in this beautiful area. Once you plan for the realities on the ground, you will have a lovely time. Safe travels!

Naples is worth the experience. I don't know where else you've been but for us it was so different than any other city we've ever been. It's dirty, crowded, chaotic and thrilling. I'd recommend looking at tours available once you get there through Mondo Tours.

We liked Capri far more then anything we saw along the Amalfi Coast. The view of Positano is beautiful, but after an hour there we were ready to move on. We found it overwhelmingly underwhelming.
