A couple of questions about dialing while in Italy

I went to my local AT&T store & the clerk knew nothing about international calling so I knew someone here could help. Do you have to put in the + feature to call home to the US from Italy? If calling within Italy on my US phone do I replace the + feature & insert the international access code 011 (since I'm using a US phone)along with Italy's country code (39) then the local no. Sorry but this has always caused me confusion. Thanks

Using an EU phone, to call the U.S. it's either +1 or 001, AC and Number.
The Verizon Blackberry my company supplies me doesn't work in the EU, so my distributor in the EU gave me a phone on his service, so I can't answer your second question.
The thing I would be most concerned about is the charges AT&T is waiting to nail you with when you use their phone in the EU. Check that out.

Stephanie,

Have a look at This Site as it will probably answer your questions. You many find it helpful to print a copy and pack it along.

I have the "+" programmed into the speed dial of all the numbers I'd be calling back home. For calling within the country, you won't need the "011" (that routes calls from here to an overseas number).

Cheers!
