A/C a MUST in Cinque Terre in August?

I last stayed in Monterosso in April/11 and the weather was hot during the day, but cooled off at night, so our room was very comfortable. I am traveling as a family of 5 in August with 3 nights booked in Monterosso. I booked at Le Sirene, whom I stayed with in April and they do NOT have A/C, but fans in the room. Was this a wise decision? The room is only 160Euros for 5 people, which is a steal! And the location is steps from the beach. Anyone stay at Le Sirene in the summer months?
Do I need to book somewhere different with A/C?

Trina, it is difficult to answer. Under normal weather conditions, August is doable without AC, there is the breeze or so. But get a Mediterranean late summer heat have (a thing that happens for 3-6 days every 2 or 3 years) and your vacation might be ruined.

Trina, While the Cinque Terre weather in August will probably be hot there's no way to predict with any certainty, given the strange weather patterns that have been occurring lately. It was hot in mid-September last year, so I'm sure August will be worse. You got a really good rate for a room for 5 people (especially as it's only "steps from the beach"), so I'd be tempted to carry on and hope for the best. It tends to cool off in the evenings so the fans may be enough? Happy travels!

I'd say stick with what you have. Good price and location. If you even could get another place to fit your needs at a decent price the AC may not make it all that much better. You may want to think about bringing some netting material and tacks for the windows so between the fans and open windows it may be do-able.
