9 passenger van in europe?

We are traveling with a group of six people in europe, starting in Amsterdam and driving down to Italy and then making our way back up to Amsterdam. We are looking into vans and with six of us the regular "min-vans" are not looking so big and we are worried we wont have any room for our luggage once we are in the car. We are looking at the 9 passenger vans but i am worried about how hard they are to drive in europe? does anyone have any input on this? when in italy we are staying at villas in the countryside of tuscany and when going to rome we are taking the train into there (taking everyones advice about not even trying to drive in rome)

So yeah pretty much what i am asking....any stories about the 9 passenger van? any tips? we just need a van that fits 6 people with prolly like 5 bags?

Here's something to consider. We traveled with a group in June and there were 8 of us. We rented 2 standard-sized cars. It gave us more flexibility for day trips so that everyone didn't necessarily have to go to the same place. If girls wanted to go shopping and guys hiking (or vice versa) it was do-able. Most of us packed light so storing luggage wasn't a problem.

It's doable. A few years ago my brother and several of his friends drove all over northern Italy in a 9-passenger van. They had no problems on the main highways. Often in the towns one of the passengers had to jump out and quide the driver through some tight turns and narrow streets. Often a local would come over and help them too. They came back with a lot of funny stories.

With 6 people plus luggage I'd agree a minivan won't cut it for you.
