9 days in Tuscany (early June)

Hi! We're staying 4 nights in Moiano (40 min east of Montepulciano) and 3 nights in Lucca before driving to Garda and then to the Dolomites. Is anyone able to share a driving itinerary for leisurely day trips in Tuscany/Umbria please?

Food and walks with a bit of history/art are our preferences.

Thank you :)

Where exactly are you staying in the north and in the south?
Both large areas

We rely on the "Back Roads" series of guidebooks from DK Publishing for our own driving trips. The one for Italy was quite good - we essentially wore ours out during a 3 week trip a few years ago.
Can usually find used copies on Amazon for just a few dollars.
It's a great planning resource as well - has a lot of off-the-beaten-tourist-path information about small villages and local attractions that you won't find in any of the other guides.
Might add that the RS Guide has a few nice drives too that are worth considering for a pleasant day out.

For north Tuscany, the Chiantigiana road would be well worth driving. Also check into driving from Siena to San Gimignano to Volterra.

Scenic and tasty lunch option at Cugusi, a pecorino cheese producer with a great menu for picnics. Located just outside Montepulciano with a perfect view of the town.
