We are taking our daughter to Italy in June and would like some suggestions as to what a recommended itinerary should be. My husband and I spent a month in Italy/France, but 30 years ago. I do not think we have the time to venture south of Rome unfortunately. I would like to stay 2 extra days with my daughter to eke out a little more time. FYI, We are in our mid-50's, love to walk and our daughter is 18.
I'm not sure what your question is. Are you looking for cities to see? Are you looking for how to travel between cities? Donna
Catherine, My wife and I, along with two other couples, are taking our graduating seniors to Italy for 13 nights at the end of May/beginning of June. Not that our itinerary is perfect (mine would be much more relaxed), but this is what the three 18 yr old's wanted to do: 1 - Fly into Rome 2 - Rome 3 - Rome 4 - Rome 5 - Sorrento (Amalfi Coast) 6 - Sorrento 7 - Sorrento 8 - Tuscany (Agriturismo in Montepulciano) 9 - Tuscany 10 - Tuscany 11 - Tuscany 12 - Venice
13 - Varenna (Lake Como) I would be happy to share my itinerary, if you like. I have already made plane and hotel reservations (although not required, I just like to be done planning early). Email me and let me know if you want. Mike
There's no one-size-fits-all answer. You'll get better results if you tell us what you think you would enjoy doing while in Italy.
Assuming your title is correct that gives you seven nights on the ground in Italy. With those time constraints I would suggest limiting yourself to no more than two destinations. Two trips come to mind, fly into rome stay 4 nights and then train to Venice or Florence for the remaining 3 nights and fly home from that city.
