My girlfriend and I are planning a 9 day trip to Italy in May and would like to focus on favorite place outside Milan, Florence and north of Rome. Any advice would be appreciated.
It would help to have some idea what type of activities you're primarily interested in (ie: Museums, galleries, Churches). Also does the nine days include your two flight days, or is that "time on the ground"? Finally, is this your first trip to Italy?
A few thoughts that come to mind....
- Milan - either Lago Maggiore (Stresa) or Lago di Como (Varenna).
- Florence - the city itself as there's lots to see
- Rome - you could consider Orvieto and other locations in Umbria or perhaps into Tuscany. There are lots of possibilities.
focus on favorite place
Yours ??? or our ??? Not sure my favorite place would match up with your interests without knowing more information. Share a little.
Please specify your departure airport and arrival airport, and the number of nights you have on the ground in Italy. Does the nine day count the travel time and or the arrival and departure days?
It's not clear what you actually want to see "outside Milan, Florence and north of Rome". You need to be more specific to get useful assistance.
Look at Rick's guide on Franco and Franca's farm overlooking Siena. They will feed you from their farm and tell you where to travel throughout Tuscany. Don't argue. They know what's best.
