What would be the best way to get to Tivoli Gardens from Rome if you don't have a car? I would prefer for it to be a day trip.....possible?
Most people without cars travel by Cotral Bus or by train. I prefer the bus as it drops you closer to Villa D'Este. The bus is also easier if you're headed to Villa Adriana. For step-by-step options to Tivoli, with pictures, you might read this. Good Luck!
Wow! Thanks Ron for the great information. I will now spend the next day or two reading your website with all it's valuable information!
Ron in Rome is the best!
We did it as a small group day trip through Enjoy Rome, and it was fabulous. We met at their office near the train station and the (excellent) guide took us to both Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este with a lunch break in Tivoli in between. It was 90€/person, but included transportation, admission to both sites, and a guided tour of both sites (7 hours total). It was very relaxing - probably one of my favorite days of our whole trip!
