How long for a letter to travel from the Vatican to US (Phila)?

My daughter mailed a letter from the Vatican post office on 5/24/12 to Phila, PA. It was sent regular mail. Anyone know how long it will take to arrive?

Hopefully she posted it from the Vatican City PO and NOT via regular Italian post. Would think by end of next week if she did the former. If it was mailed via the latter, start praying.
No disrespect but the Italian Postal Service is the worst in Europe. I speak from experience.

We usually get home before the mail gets to us, and we usually send letters and post cards on the first couple days of our trip . I would give it another week or so. Donna

The Vatican Postal Service used to route everything through the Swiss Postal Service, and it was known for its reliability and speed. However, reliable sources have told me that they no longer use the Swiss Service, but instead, after the initial sorting and bundling of the mail they do, they now consign it to the Italian Postal Service. If this is true (a change which happened in the past year, I think), this would account for why it has been taking, on average, 2 weeks for anything I send via Vatican Post to get to the States. I still mail things through the Vatican because I think it will more safely get through the initial stages of the mailing process. But I have not noticed any speed benefit for doing so. For example, they have a so-called "express service", but it still takes 2 weeks to get to the States, even when I use that service. Because I think it is going to Poste Italiane after they process it. I would love it if someone could definitively confirm or deny this information. I have done searches on Google in Italian to see if I can find a news item on it, but have not turned up anything yet. In any case, short answer: in the past year I have noticed that it generally takes 2 weeks, sometimes longer, for letters to get to the States.

This is a duplicate post and other answers are on the other one.

Thank you for your comment about the Swiss mail. I was really hanging my hopes on that routing option. We are awaiting an original document that needed to be signed by my daughter. I will post when it arrives - fingers crossed next week!
