8 couples Venice pre cruise accommodations

Hi all,

I am looking for Venice pre-cruise accommodations for a group mid September 2024. Would appreciate recommendations for a mid-range hotel/bnb that could accommodate 8 separate rooms with private baths. I already have a list from the cruise line but hoped to have something more quaint.
I have noticed that many of the hotels in Venice are small.

Suggestions for searching sites/places that show number of rooms available is also appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Yes. Thank you. What mostly comes up is apartments.

Assuming you're all adults, is there any reason you can't stay in multiple hotels or b&b's in the same neighborhood? Many b&b's won't have 8 rooms period, let alone all 8 available. Is there any reason why one or more apartments wouldn't work? How many nights are you looking for? You can filter on booking.com for hotels and b&b's to weed out the apartments. And, by the way, what is mid-range $$ to you?

September is a busy month in Venice. I think finding a single hotel with 8 rooms available may be quite a challenge. You might try going to booking.com, seeking a much smaller number of rooms, then accessing the hotels' websites to check on availability of what you actually need. I think many hotels just list a few of their rooms on booking.com to avoid paying listing fees when they can easily fill most of their rooms with direct reservations.

Are you certain that the cruise ship is actually departing from Venice? Is it a small ship?

Good question, Lola. I thought all cruise ships had to dock elsewhere.

Thanks for all of the responses. Since most of us have never visited Venice we wanted to see it. We are flying into Venice and staying 3 nights. Then taking the train to Trieste for the cruise.

I have looked on Booking.com and other sites. I was hoping for some additional insights/tips from this group in case someone else had done a trip with a number of couples. Today I decided to send an email directly to a hotel about room availability for 8 couples.

Thanks again. JH

Would you consider apartments in one building?

A few years ago, we spent a month in this 2-bedroom, 2-bath apartment near the Rialto Bridge. It is one of 4 two-bedroom apartments in the same building, one on each floor (with an elevator). Lion’s House No. 4 is the top floor and one room is a sort of loft, with a door to the rooftop terrace, which we really enjoyed, every evening. The other apartments (Lion 1, 2, and 3) each have 2 regular bedrooms. I will put a link to Lion 4 and Lion 3 so you can see the difference.

The location is just about ideal, on little Campo San Lio, with a grocery store just down the street. It is pretty much in the center of Venice, where the sestriere of San Marco, Castello, and Cannaregio all meet.

You could email Marco at Venice Red House and ask if all 4 apartments are available for your dates.

Do something different ! stay in a convent ! Look at Istituto San Guiseppe ( www.monasterystays.com ). Great location on. small canal midway between Rialto Bridge and San Mark’s Square. Good price

Actually it is a group of 16. 8 couples, not 8 people. How large is that hotel?

Sasha we stayed at that hotel with our group of 48 in doubles and triples. I know they have room for 16.

We loved Hotel Ai Mori D'Oriente in the Cannaregio area of Venice. It has its own dock, so sharing a water taxi would be worth it for eight people. We loved the service and the staff. There are no crowds here, it's on the quiet back canals, where you can take sunset pictures without people spoiling them. But you are only a ten minute walk to a vaporetto stop on the Grand Canal.
Perhaps the hotels you are looking at don't have eight rooms exactly the same price range, so you're coming up short asking for eight rooms. Contact this hotel directly for the best price. Altho it looks small and has so much Venetian charm, it actually connects into the adjacent building, so it's larger than surrounding hotels.
Have a wonderful trip!

And the Venezia Grand Hotel Palazzo Dei Dogi has 64 rooms, also in the Cannaregio area, a bit more expensive, is set in an old palace turned monastery turned embassy.
We stayed there when it was part of the Marriott group.
Good luck!

Ps You will need air conditioning in September. Include that in your search.

The most affordable lodgings in Venice are those small hotels or B&Bs near the main train station.
