7am flight out of Naples

I would suggest staying in Naples. You don't want to be stuck in Sorrento if something happens to the train. It's always best, in my opinion, to spend the last night in the city you're flying out of. Donna

Bus start 6:30, take 1:15 to airport. Train start some time after 5, take one hour to Naples, then taxi to airport. The only option is taxi from Sorrento to airport. Will cost you 125E or more.

http://www.sorrentocars.com/ I would check with your airline for their guidelines on check-in times. It is not a big airport but does get busy and therefore crowded. We pay between 75 - 80 euro for a private transfer from Sorrento to the airport.

Stay in Naples. before we went to Italy we new that there would be a train strike.You never know what will happen. So we waited it out. May lots of friends.

Linda, thank you for that information. There are 3 of us to divide the cost so 80 euros for point to point transfer doesn't sound so bad. How early do we need to arrive at the airport before our flight, 2 hours or less? How big is the Naples airport? I believe it is an hour drive, do you think it is possible to get a taxi at 4 am? I took the bus from the airport NAP to Sorrento. ( train station), it take 1 hour 15 minutes. No stop in between. So I will expect it will take the same for the car or taxi. The airport in Naples is small. In the morning, I think one hour before should be enough. I flied back from Nice in the morning before 7 AM. It is a bigger airport than Naples, but hardly anybody there.

Awesome info Rick and Linda, thanks! It's helpful knowing the Naples airport is smaller and that private transportation is possible. We would prefer to stay in Sorrento our last night to avoid losing time packing, checking out, moving, checking in... I'm going to check the webites, fingers crossed I can find someone willing to pick us up EARLY.

Karin Your Sorrento hotel is a great source of local knowledge for a taxi to Naples Airport. They will have connections to a reliable taxi service. Check with them first.
