I am planning on taking my netbook with me to Italy. One of its features is the ability to use Skype and have video telecons with my daughter back in the states. This is called Skype to Skype and is free for its users. Does anybody have any experience using Skype in Europe?

Skype works fine. One nice feature is that 1-800 numbers work and are free - useful if you need to call your bank etc.

And sign up for the pay option so that you can call anyone in the world on any phone for the 2.3? cents/ minute using your Skype account. When we were in Spain, Skype was awesome on my IPhone and Netbook.

I am in Florence now and use it everyday to chat with my kiddos. They love it. I used it in Rome too without any issues. The only reason it would not work great would be if your hotel does not have great internet connection. So far so good though!
