7 Days in Tuscany - Itinerary Advice

Hi all,

I am in the beginning stages of planning a trip to Tuscany in June 2022. My wife and three children will be flying into Florence (3 nights), then renting a car to begin touring the region of Tuscany. We rented a villa in central Chianti (small vineyard near Greve).

We would like to have a generally loose itinerary that provides a lot of time for leisure. We are must interested in taking in all the scenery, wineries, and enjoying culinary adventures.

Given ourhome base in central Chianti, we are looking for an itinerary for our 7 days that incorporates wineries and must see villages.

Did was anyone have any suggestions for a good 7 day plan?

We will be renting a car once we leave Florence so will have the ability to drive at our leisure.

I apologize ze if I have left out any crucial details.

Thanks in advance for any assistance

We rented a large villa with pool in Panzano for a week for our extended family. The pool was a life saver!
Day trips included Florence, Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano, Greve, nearby villages of Radda and Castellina; and Panzano itself with visits to both sections of the town, and meals there with the famous butcher Dario Cecchini. We have stayed in this region many times and love it there.
As far as wineries, we followed local signs, often down dirt roads, to local wineries, even shipped some Chianti home.
Nothing was planned ahead except for reservations in Florence for museums.

Thank you!

My children will be young (2, 5, and 7). We will also be traveling with my grandmother for assistance with the young ones.

So, 6 people plus luggage and car seats for at least 2, and a stroller would suggest renting a large van, not a car.

And will Grandma be babysitting at the villa while you explore the wineries and culinary experiences? Keeping in mind kids' interests and attention spans, the time involved for many "culinary experiences", and the need for naps? Otherwise you may need to keep your day trips within a relatively short distance to the villa.

Good advice on renting the van as opposed to a car.

Also, grandma will be hanging at the Villa with the children for our trips to wineries. We will likely take the two older kids with us when we travel to some of the more touristy cities, but they will likely be "stuck" at the house for the most part.

a good idea to check on Italy's drink drive laws - the amount allowed is very very low - before too many other winery visits... just a word to the wise ...
