We are heading to Itlay as a family of 4-plan is 2 days starting in Rome-2 days in Florence and 2 days in Venice-EWe need to end up in Geneva on day 8. Where should we stay in Rome-Termininal area? What shuldbe do with out flex day? We are thinking the Lake Cuamo area on our way from Venice to Geneva with Zermat Switz another possibility..

Too much to see in the Lake Cuomo area for a one day stay. Spend the extra day in Rome. So much to see there you won't be sorry. Besides. the first day in Rome is pretty much lost with jet lag.

Paul, I'm assuming you're referring to Lake Como? With an Itinerary that appears to be only one week, I'm not sure you'll have time for that, nor for Zermatt. It's extremely important to include adequate travel times between locations, which will realistically take at least half a day each time you change locations. My suggestion would be to expand the time in the other locations, and plan to visit Lago di Como or Zermatt on a future visit. It's a LONG train ride from Venice to Geneva (~10-11H), but you could consider taking an EasyJet flight from VCE to GVA (flight time 1H:15M). NOTE that they only appear to offer flights on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Happy travels!
