7 days at Lake Garda - does that make sense?

We're planning a trip to Italy in October and are thinking of spending 7 days at Lake Garda. I'm wondering:
- is that too much time?
- can you get around the lake by ferry or bus (i.e. not have to drive)?
- which town on Lake Garda would you recommend we stay in?
- We like to walk, hike, see ruins, eat, wine taste, can we do that around the lake (not necessarily all of those things, but we like to be doing something each day)

If have been to Lake Garda I would love recommendations and ideas!

The time you’d like to spend is up to you. Many Europeans, including Italians spend several weeks at lake Garda in summer every year!. It depends on how much time you have available and how much you want to devote to various places.
Yes, you can get around by bus or ferry. Some people prefer that rather than having to deal with a car and parking, which is not easy to find on some busy periods.
I like the towns on the north side because it’s more mountainous than the southern half. Basically any town from Garda (on the east shore) or Salò (on the west shore) and north, all the way to Riva, is good for me. Garda, Malcesine, Torbole, Riva, Limone are popular spots.
You can do all of the above activities, and more, like biking, paragliding, windsurfing (one of the top spots in the world), mountain climbing, swimming, mountain biking, cliff para shooting, water theme parks, auto safari with exotic animals, wine tasting. There is no other lake in Italy that has the plethora of activities that lake Garda has.

We (my wife and I) usually stay a wek at a time, when we are there. We stay on a camping site in a mobile home between Bardolino and Garda (https://www.camping-serenella.it/en/airone-camping-serenella.php). Even when we drive there from home (Denmark), we let the car rest for the week and take ferries everywhere.

Typical places we go:

We walk into Bardolino and into Garda for shopping and dining.

There is a nice small mountain just behind Garda ( https://maps.app.goo.gl/eV5NTpMX2YmAQp759) with a view of the lake.

We are on the lake every year for a few weeks (We are here just now) So we know the lake very well.
For a first-time visitor i would recommend staying in Bardolino or Garda town. Whereas Bardolino is a bit nicer, but Garda Town has more possibilities esploring the lake by ferry or bus.
You can walk between these citiies along the lake, it takes only about one hour. From each of that town you can make a trip by public bus to Verona. And you cane explore all of the lake by ferry or bus.
