Has anyone used a guided tour that cuts lines and covers Ancient Rome and Vatican City in 1 day? Tripadvisor says EnjoyRome has some good and some very bad guides.
We loved our tour of the Vatican with http://www.walksofitaly.com/. Very good guide, intellligent adn engaging, native English speaker. They do a full day tour for 449 euros for two people.
I think trying to do ancient Rome AND Vatican city in one day would be exhausting. I'd pick one or the other. If you choose the Vatican, Rick Steves has podcasts you can download free on iTunes for the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. You can reserve an entry time on line and even make reservations for a tour. (Check Rick's book.) For ancient Rome, Rick has podcasts for the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill. If you really have to do both, do ancient Rome in the morning and the Vatican in the afternoon...start at the Colosseum, then do the Forum and if you have any energy left, do the Palatine Hill. Good luck!
