My wife, a few friends, and myself will be traveling to Venice, Florence, and Rome in July. We are all in our mid twenty's and enjoy our nightlife but not huge trendy clubs with tons of people and loud "drum and bass" style house music. Is there anywhere in those cities we can see live music i.e. bar or small venue? Thanks
You can try a search on pollstar.com They'll usually give a listing for bigger local bands as well as headliners.
There are a plethora of good English and Irish pubs in all three cities who feature live music. Try the Clurricane (sp?) or Fiddler's Elbow in Florence as well as the Fiddler's Elbow or Druid's Den in Rome. Rome actually has dozens of pubs so it's a safe bet that at least one or two of them will have live music on any given night.
Piazza San Marco in the evening has a cool "dueling orchestra" thing going on most nights. I was there two years ago and took some of it in. It was fun! Here's a youtube snippet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZdNiJkuU2A
Definitely something memorable to do!
