6 days for honeymoon

As part of our honeymoon we will spend 6 days in Italy. We would like to split that between Cinque Terre and Tuscany. What would you reccomend that we do? We are flying to Rome what would be the best way to cover both? We are thinking Sienna for the Tuscany base and Monterosso for the Ct base.

sumayya, Splitting your time between Siena and Monterosso should work well. Is your flight home also from Rome? When you arrive at FCO, take the Leonardo Express to Termini and then the next train to Siena. Travel time will be a minimum of 3H:19M, with one change. It will be a LONG travel day after an international flight, but should be manageable. While you could also take a Bus from Tiburtina, the departures are less frequent so it may be difficult to co-ordinate that with the time of your flight. Travel by train from Siena to Monterosso, which will probably be via La Spezia. Travel time will be a minimum of 3H:13M, probably with two changes. Note that the rail station in Siena is at the bottom of the hill, so you'll need to use a Taxi or Bus to get up to the town. Congratulations and happy travels!

Thanks a lot! What hotel do you reccomend in Sienna and Monterosso? Also, can we rent a car there so we drive around Tuscany and do day trips? We will spend the night before flying out in Rome. I hear the agriturismos are great but I can't decide between those and a hotel.

Sumayya What a wonderful way to celebrate your marriage! What is your hotel budget so we can give you good recommendations? Please also note another current thread that is looking for hotels/agritourismos in Siena or nearby. As well as search the Helpline for the many previous discussions. Bobbie

In Monterosso we would like a hotel that has veiws of the water. I understand that it is okay to be in the old town area with the recovery? I read good reviews about Hotel Pasquale and Hotel Bellevue. Someplace romantic would be nice but Porta Roca seems very expensive. In Siena is it better to stay at an Agriturismo or hotel? We would love the true tuscan experience but not sure how it owuld be to have be staying at a house. Ideas about what to do while in Siena?
