6 day Rome Itinerary

Any suggestions for improving itinerary? We want to see a lot but not have to rush through like a whirlwind.
Day 1 - Arrive in Rome on Monday mid-moring. Get a feel of the city with no specific itinerary.
Day 2 - Vatican & Night walk Across Rome
Day 3 - Caesar Shuffle
Day 4 - Borghese Gallery (reservations required), picnic in Villa Borghese Park. National Museaum of Rome & Baths of Diocletian.
Day 5 - Tivoli
Day 6 - Open for anything we may want to do or see. Possible trip to Ostia Antica

Yes! Someone who isn't trying to "do" Rome in 2 days! You must be an experienced Europe traveler? My first trip to Rome was 5 days and we could have used 6. On the Tivoli day you'll see both Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este, yes?

yes, this is why I planned the whole day for the Tivoli trip. This is our 3rd trip to Europe but first to Italy. We have had our trips where we pushed it everyday.

I just happened on upon some sites through googling strolling in Rome; Fountains in Rome, etc.

travelbite.co.uk

Google fountains in Rome and see how many you can find while walking around Rome.
Google "what to do in Rome", etc. etc. You will find many choices on the website.
You'll get a "feel" for the city when you are walking and then get lost because you can't figure out where you are on your map. We saw a lot of Rome that we may not have seen.
My husband and I walked a lot. After checking into your hotel, go walking. Take some of the side alleyways. You will see so much. Stop for your gelato in the afternoon.

Will do. We plan on doing a lot of walking ourselves.
