They say be at the airport 3 hours before an international flight, which would be 3:30 am. But are the airline counters even open at that time of the morning? We will be traveling to Dublin (Aer Lingus) and connecting to San Francisco, and checking bags. Can I just check in online via the app, and is there a kiosk at the airport for luggage? It is impossible to get hold of a live person at Aer Lingus.
That is basically a “domestic” flight so arrival by 4:30 should be fine-that’s probably when counters open
On the Aer Lingus website they say that Airport check in opens 2 hours 30 minutes before flight time and closes 1 hour 15 before, so 4.45am.
Online check in opens 48 hours before (or 15 days before if you have status or have a Saver ticket with pre purchased seat) , and (in the case of Rome) closes 6 hours 30 minutes before.
If that is what the airline itself says, then an arrival at around 4.30am (but not any later) feels about right.
Unfortunately, I've been unsuccessful in reaching the airline so far. But since Ireland is not a Schengen country, this is an international flight, not domestic. We will plan on 4:30 for now, and in the meantime keep trying to reach the airline.
