Need recommendations for the night before cruise in May. thanks
I have not stayed in any of these but it's a start. http://www.venere.com/italy/civitavecchia/ Donna
There is very little to see or do in Civit ,,, Not that much of town. Stay in Rome overnight and catch the train in the morning about an hour train ride. And the train station in Civit is about a half mile walk to the port entrance. You have to go into Rome, anyway, from the airport so you might as well send an evening in Rome. We have made that run times it is cheap and easy to do.
We recently stayed at the Marriott 5 mins. from the airport. Quiet room, nice pool area. The restrauant even opened early for us 2 before our return flight.
Don't see how the Marriott would solve Bill's problem. Since the airport and Civit.... are not that close together. Still need to get to cruise ship the next day. And it would be more difficult from the Mariott.
Thanks everyone. we've decided to go into Rome for the night and then transfer to the ship.
That's a good decision. You might go on http://www.cruisecritic.com and post on the board for your cruise to see if anyone wants to share the cost of a transfer to the ship from Rome. I recommend romecabs if you don't take the train.
Hi Bill, We stayed at a B&B called Susanna's in Civitavecchia. It was walking distance from the train and to the port. It really was a cute set up. In the morning we found a room numbered basket full of breakfast goodies in the help yourself kitchen. Enjoyed breakfast with others heading for the ship. Never did see the owners but felt very relaxed the morning of the cruise. We would do it again.
