Electrical Converters

I want to take my laptop with me (a Gateway that's three years old). Do I need a converter or just a plug adapter? I don't want to blow it up...

Terry, Look at the label on laptop transformer, it should list input voltage, Almost all are 110/240 You will need an adapter though

Terry,

The first thing you'll need to do is check the Charger for your Laptop, looking for the words "Input Voltage". If these state "Input 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz", you'll only need inexpensive Plug Adapters for use in Europe.

Which countries are you travelling to? Note that different Plug Adapters are required for mainland Europe and the U.K.

One other point to mention is that if the plug on your Laptop Charger is grounded (three pins), I'd recommend using a grounded Plug Adapter. While it will work with a two-pin model, I prefer using grounded plugs if the product is designed for them.

Happy travels!
