I'm heading to Venice, Florence, and Rome at the beginning of this coming summer and am interested in booking private walking tours. I know Rick has talked on his radio show about private tours and how they're amazing but I don't remember if he ever discussed how to book them. I'm looking for a company or person who could walk with us around each city, showing us the main sites, and giving a historical account of what we're seeing. Think the Free Walking Tour done by the SANDEMAN company in various cities except we don't want anything for free. Thanks
Walks of Italy in Rome is a GREAT company. We used them there and I think they also do Florence.
I highly recommend Alessandra Mazzoccoli for a walking tour in Rome; she charges 45 Euro/hour and you tell her the sites you want to visit (we did Colosseum, Forum, Palatine Hill & Capitoline Hill) - very knowledgeable! Her email is alemazzoccoli AT gmail DOT com
