Rental Car Insurance

What insurance is a must to get in Italy? I have the following options on my rental.

You may select additional insurances at your pick-up location (not included in reservation price, VAT included):

-PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE 12.0 EUR per day

-SUPER COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER 16.8 EUR per day

-SUPER LOSS DAMAGE WAIVER 28.8 EUR per day

-SUPER P.A.I. 15.6 EUR per day

-SUPER P.A.I. 18.0 EUR per day

-Theft Waiver Plus (reduced excess may apply) STHW 14.4 EUR per day

Wow!! That's just way too confusing!! If you have health insurance, you don't need the personal accident insurance (check to make sure your ins. covers you out of country). The others I would decline. In Italy your car rental agreement is suppose to already include CDW (collision damage waiver). There may be a deductible (but it's usually not that much). The theft ins. would be good. Who did you book through? I booked one for October with autoeurope.com and got a great deal. Price was all inclusive. You might want to check it out.
Why do they have to make things SO confusing anyway :/

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) usually duplicates the coverages you already have through your own health & life insurance - as long as your health insurance includes overseas coverage.

The "Super" coverages relieve you of having to pay any deductibles that might otherwise apply.

Basic CDW & theft insurance are both mandatory in Italy & are included in your rental agreement.

There is a lot of good information here:

You should purchase all the insurance and insurance upgrades that the rental agency tosses your way. This is Italy. Better safe than sorry. You want to be able to walk away from an accident or theft and just hand them the keys. Don't count on insurance included in your credit card agreement to handle a problem sufficiently.

The LDW/CDW coverage has a deductible of 500-3000 euro, depending on your rental agency an type of car you rent. I had to call to get the specifics for a rental I had through Hertz. The 'super cover' eliminates the deductible. There are several sources available other than the rental agency to get 'super cover'. Just do a search for for -excess car hire coverage- or some such phrase. You should get a bunch of results. A week of coverage can be had from the direct insurance carriers, for what the rental agency charges per day.
