Is the train the best way to get from Florence to Venice? And, since this is our first time in Europe, any practical tips about taking a train from Florence to Venice will be appreciated. I have read a couple of Rick's books, so we have some basics, but other practical experience is welcomed.
Actually, it's a 2hr.03 minute journey on the high-speed Eurostar Alto Velocita train to get to Venice from Florence. Fare is 42Euro.

If you want a less expensive fare of 22.50Euro, you can catch the InterCity train departing at 13:40. Journey time is just over 3hrs as the train makes more stops along the way.
