We are four woman over 50 wanting to rent a van to drive from Rome to Paris. How are the roads between the two cities? None of us want to drive real mountainous roads?
I understand their are considerable toll roads...what is cost of average toll? We are allowing three days travel time with some stops along the way. Would this time frame get us to Paris in a reasonable amount of time. Have no idea on distance, terrain and condition of roads!!!

You can get a good idea of rental costs by visiting the Auto Europe site. You need to be aware that you will pay a hefty surcharge for picking up a car in one country and dropping it off in another.
Highways in Switzerland require a toll sticker that costs approximately $28 US. Cars rented in Switzerland have the sticker attached; otherwise you must purchase the sticker separately.
In addition to your regular license, an International Driver Permit is required in Italy. Buy the IDP from your local AAA office.
After you add up all the expenses (rental, insurance, gas, and toll road fees), you may find that it would be cheaper, even with four people traveling, to take the train. You still could break up the trip by choosing places to stop along the way. You can get detailed timetables on the German Rail site that show the connecting points and all the intermediate stops.
You may be right....may consider that. Will check out the train fares. Where to stop along the way would be the next question.
Thanks
