5 Nights Dolomites - Colfosco Base - Hiking Suggestions

Hi,

We are spending 5 nights in Colfosco in August. weather permitting, this is our current hiking wish list:

Day 1 - Cascaste Del Pisciadu - near Colfosco
Day 2 - Armentara Medows Trail - 15 mins from Colfosco
Day 3 - Lago di Braies Loop, Lago di Dobbiaco, Cortina, Cinque Torri
Day 4 - Adolf Munkel Trail - Val Di Funes - 1.5 hrs.
Day 5 - ?
Day 6 - Seiser Alm - Meadows Loop Trail (on drive to Innsbruck to return car)

Has anyone hiked Tre Cime di Lavaredo loop in the summer? I figure we will have to get there really early or get late in the day to get a parking spot. wondering if it makes sense to add another 1.5 drive plus long hike to the itinerary.

Any other easy-moderate hikes to recommend not too far from Colfosco?

Thanks in advance!

Given the drive, I would skip Tre Cime di Lavaredo. There are plenty of other epic hikes near you. One of my favorites is the Sassolungo Circuit, which is 30 min from Colfosco. Here's a good guide on where to start: https://throneandvine.com/hiking-sassolungo-langkofel/. It's a moderate hike, but you do not have to complete the full circuit to enjoy some of the best mountain sights in the region. Have a great trip!

I don't know how avid you are as a hiker. I am also unfamiliar with destinations for Days 1 and 2. However, Day 3 seems way too busy. Skip Cortina--it's a Disney like ski town.

The Tre Cime loop trail will add at least 4-5 hours to your journey, excluding the time to drive up and down. It's also not that easy. Adolfo Munkel is a little less rigorous, but you still need good boots and possibly hiking poles. Traffic is also a concern, esp. for August.

I did the Sassolungo circuit a few weeks ago. While I did the full circuit, the parking lot had very few cars when I returned and I imagine that many people did shorter hikes or were just faster hikers than us. The full circuit is about 12 miles and is a glorious day of hiking going from grass covered fields to scree and through a small wooded section. The Refugio Vicenza was an experience in itself for a cappuccino and lunch. There are cable cars and lifts to experience a smaller section of this hike.

Thank you!

super helpful. my gut was telling me to skip cortina, tre cimi.

we are going to add Sassolungo and take our Cortina/Tre Ceme and Adolf Munkel. going to trim as much driving as possible.

Thinking of making Cinque Terre + the two refugios as it's own. and will look for another one closer to Colfosco.

I've heard good things about the hikes to Scotoni hut.

open to any other hiking suggestions near Alta Badia. Thanks again! really appreciate it!
