I am considering a 5-6 day trip in Italy, flying in from Vienna. I have visited Rome and Cortona on a previous vacation. Any suggestions? I'm considering in and around Florence.

David, For such a short time frame, Florence would be a good choice. One or two day trips to Siena or other locations would provide a bit of variety. For trips to Siena, travel by Bus is a good option. Happy travels!

Well, I have 2 separate 5 day time slices, to travel. (I'll be in Vienna in between) Was considering Berlin or the Netherlands for 5 days and then Florence and surroundings for 5 days. I have traveled quite a bit over Europe but am open to suggestions. I plan on buying plane tickets to cover major distances and taking local trains, if I choose to visit surrounding towns. I've had trips moving place to place after a day or so. I'm not looking for that this trip. Good food, good wine/beer and a laid back vibe. I'm also traveling alone, so if you know of a particularly good place for single travelers, I'm all ears.
